Ao Yun, the new Chinese wine from Estates & Wines, produced in the foothills of the Himalayas, unveils first vintage.
Ao Yun means "flying above the clouds" or "roaming above the clouds". Our name refers to the thick, wandering clouds of the incredible region and celebrates the birthplace of the legend of Shangri-La.
Reporting to the Ao Yun Viticulturist, the Ao Yun Assistant Viticulturist, you will be expected to be a committed and to be a high-performing member of the team and will be responsible of the achievement of the following missions:
Oversee of Ao Yun estate vineyards technical operations
- Cultivating, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting and replanting, irrigating, and harvesting
- Pest, fungicide, and herbicide management
- Irrigating, monitoring, and making recommendations related to vineyard quality.
- Erosion control, trellis Installation, irrigation installation, frost protection, vineyard installation, fence installation
- Provide and acquire proper tools for all jobs; make sure that workers use the necessary equipment; keep areas clean and orderly
- Enforce company policy; ensure that every job or task is safe for the employees; supervise to make sure all work is carried out correctly; assist the workers.
- Understand and train employees in Policy, Procedures and Safety
- Estimate harvest equipment needed; provide accurate harvest estimates; work within assigned budgets
- Ensure that all necessary equipment is on site and in good operating condition prior to work
- Search out and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions and deliver quality fruit.
PROFILE
Education:
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Viticulture or related sciences.
Languages:
- English fluent, Chinese mandatory.
Professional experience & know how:
- About 2-5years of general viticulture experience.
- Experience and knowledge with high end, luxury & quality winegrowing.
- Knowledge/experience with Pest identification/monitoring, Irrigation Water Management and Vine Nutrition required.
- Computer skills including database management, spreadsheets, word processing.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record necessary.
- Good organizational skills, proactivity, curiosity and a focus for quality.
- Effective communication skills. Resulting in achieved objectives & enhanced relationships with others
- Willing to work a flexible schedule with extended hours, especially during harvest.
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's value of exhibiting the highest quality standards in all endeavors.
